Brokering co-ordination

For the Council to accept more of a role in identifying and letting people know about the countless different organisations that offer support to the people of Birmingham.

There are so many charities and other organisations who can offer people support, but people in need don't always know what is available.  If the Council could keep track of this it would be able to signpost people effectively and would not need to duplicate services available elsewhere (including in other parts of the council!)

Why the contribution is important

To let the people of Birmingham know where to turn for support and to reduce duplication of effort.

I like the idea that the Council should be more of a broker. The recent Kerslake report suggested that the Council should be less paternalistic in its approach to partnership and this suggestion seems very much to be in the right space

This is a great idea - people simply don't know what is already available from faith groups, community groups etc.
