Solar panels

The council have a large number of big buildings enough roof room to cater for the amount of solar panels for a building to function.  Schools could become self sufficient. Also the council to encourage businesses when they want to expand to have solar panels has part of the planing to expand.

Why the contribution is important

Save money for the council, saves the impact on the environment. If it solar panels where to be put on schools for example the children then could be educated for their future.

There are private companies who can fit solar to Owner Occupier properties, allow the owner to get the benefit of lower bills but the company themselves collect any revenue from power sold back to the national grid. Why is it not possible for Birmingham city council to do this with their properties ? Not only would it help their tennats but the money they get from selling back the electricity would certainly enhance their budget.

Totally agree, the council could get revenue from the national grid, I know the outlay at first would be high but it would soon reap back its lay off of money. There is a UK company the first to make solar panels which is in fact in the West Midlands keep it locally make more jobs for the company and money for the area. Educate people and children for the future.
