Grant funded activity

A map that visually shows the allocation and spend of grants across Birmingham. This would include Grants from Birmingham City Council (including community chest) and funding from lottery, sports, heritage, arts, trusts, foundations, central government, european, academic research councils, nhs and police etc

Why the contribution is important

This mapped data would help to identify gaps, help to develop better cross partnership working, provide information about the delivery of activities/services/developments. This would enable the council to better target provision and funding by adding value and addressing resource gaps.

Sounds like a very useful idea. This should be accessible to arts organisations including local arts fora, artists, and other third sector organisations who might find it very useful to learn from other local groups, see the diversity of funding available and the types of projects that can be funded, as well as develop more partnership working.

    cultureofficer,

This is an interesting idea, I don't think creating a map falls within the scoop of this discussion however there could be data held by the council that others could use to create a map.

What sort of raw data would be needed to allow people to create this kind of map?

The Birmingham Data Factory has the Voluntary Sector Grant Funding Data for 2014 (so a little out of date) and sadly no geographic reference. If it were possible to link a geography to the recipient it might be a start? https://data.birmingham.gov[…]-sector-funding-information
