Current Housing Stock-

Information about current housing stock available to BCC, both BCC owned and agency owned.

Data requirement-
The number of properties broken down by:
Postcode area (B1, B2 etc.)
Property type (flat, house, maisonette)
Number of bedrooms
Vacant or occupied
 

Housing waiting list information-

Information about people currently on BCC’s housing waiting lists:

Data requirement-
Number of people broken down by:
Postcode area (B1, B2 etc)
Bedroom requirement
Length of time on waiting list
Number of people

Private landlords-

Information about privately owned properties currently receiving housing benefit as rental payment.

Data requirement-
The number of properties broken down by:
Postcode area (B1, B2 etc.)
Property type (flat, house, maisonette) If known
Number of bedrooms if known

Why the contribution is important

Making this information available on a monthly or quarterly basis would allow the people to see what the current need for housing stock is.

It would also allow people to build a picture over time that would allow organisations planning to create housing where the greatest need is.

This could also allow for new ways to look at the problem of housing in Birmingham and come up with alternative solutions to solve the current/impending housing crisis.

This would also reduce the number of FOI requests that are currently received for this type of data which could save staff time in dealing with these requests.
