Drum n Bounce & Dubstretch Fitness

Drum n bounce (dnb) is a unique fitness concept born in Moseley, Birmingham in October 2012. Combining fun accessible dance moves with banging drum & bass tunes its such a fun way to keep fit and reach a natural high! The full package of a session combines warm ups where participants get energised and intergrate with their fellow bouncers. Then there are 6 different 30 minute routines to pick from which can be done at a low or high impact level, dnb is never about everyone 'getting it right' but always about smiling and sweating. For desert we like to finish off with a sprinkling of Dubstretch combining toning and stretching to Dubstep for a complete workout.

We are a local set up running weekly classes in Moseley and sessions at events such as Shambala, Oxjam, Roller Derby events and other festivals. I would love to bring dnb to this event by delivering taster sessions on International Women's Day, also with an idea of creating some accessible fitness videos so that people could continue exercising at home.

Why the contribution is important

What works with this concept is the combination of the music which is normally associated with a night out and the dance moves, its a healthy way to get high. It attracts a range of people including some who have never been to a fitness class before or stepped foot in a gym. I have teenagers through to grandmothers who enjoy the class and even though its fast paced everyone can go at their own pace. It seems to fit the remit of what you are looking for, class members have said dnb got them into fitness as its a lot of fun, trendy and generates the bug to keep fit.

I attend these classes and they are great fun. The music keeps you moving even when you're feeling it and the atmosphere is great with a just join in attitude. It's nice to do something where you don't mind getting it wrong sometimes while still enjoying yourself

Started this class over a year ago, and I try to attend weekly!
High energy and the music keeps you "bouncing" no matter how your feeling. It is an amazing way to get fit, as you don't feel like your doing the boring side of exercise! If you like drum n bass music and have a boogie then Drum n Bounce is the ideal fitness for you! You are welcomed by lovely people and the atmosphere of an average class will always have you leaving with a smile and a sweat.

This is a great class that works you hard no matter what your age or fitness level. It's incredibly fun and I always leave feeling more energised than when I arrived! It's a great way to get into exercise in a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere - perfect for those feeling a bit self conscious or worried about starting exercise again after a while not doing any.

The most fun you'll ever have getting fit! Have never found another class where I smile all the way through!
A proper workout, fantastic music but most of all a great inclusive atmosphere... everyone is welcome - super fit or 2 left feet we all bounce along together for an hour.
    Love it!

The time flies when you're bouncing, it feels like a night out without the consequences. Emma is so full of energy and motivating that you can't help but smile, even though the exercise is constant throughout the class. You can do very high or low impact versions, which allowed me to continue throughout pregnancy, and I know it'll help me get my fitness back. I've been going since its conception and have loved following dnb inside, outside, to events, festivals and parties. Part of its unique charm is that it was born in Brum, and it stays true to its roots, even when on tour. I can't rate it highly enough, and I've tried pretty much every exercise class there is!

Drum n Bounce is a genius idea that works for everyone. You basically do an all round workout without realising it.....definitely beats the boredom and trauma that comes with being at the gym! It works for the highly-fit to those just starting out and everyone loves the music, dance moves and atmosphere. I highly recommend it.

Drumnbounce has completely changed my attitude to fitness! Before drumnbounce I wasn't really interested in health and fitness, but after my first class I was totally hooked! You literally grin from ear to ear throughout the class.... It's such good fun!! And as the class goes on and you start to fatigue, the tunes get deeper and you find a little extra bounce from within and keep going!
Drumnbounce taught me that you can enjoy keeping fit and that has now escalated to other activities! But drumnbounce remains my number one, no other class gives you the smiles that this does! A great group of people, typical brummie style and Emma is inspirational! Thankyou for changing my life!

Myself my daughter and my mum started dnb just over a year ago and we all love it which shows its for all ages and fitness levels!
Never seen so many smiley faces during a workout class.
Exercise combined with having a good boogie with fellow bouncers.

I started this class after seeing a demo a couple of years ago. I absolutely love the music and the people are just so friendly, including Emma, who is highly motivated and always keeps the class going (always with a huge smile too). It helped me lose a stone pretty easily, especially as it's the first and only class I've ever had proper fun in! Who needs Zumba when you have a class that's so unique!?
