Public Health Priority Area's

Can we target girls and women in area's we know suffer poor health outcomes/obesity, using our community centre assets.

Then we could align public health lifestyle outreach, delivering services women enjoy, want and need, near to home.

Can we also encourage the use of community assets, eg the Ladywood Health and Community Centre to deliver a mixed activity programme. These would be led by a variety of activity initiatives, eg: Street Games, Sport for All Living Streets.

This would help create a critical mass and buzz and add value (eg: Be Active Friday night Zumba class) and increase the function and sustainability of our Community Centre's, as local well being and activity hubs.

Why the contribution is important

We need to increase activity to improve healthoutcomes.

If BCC can coordinate a coherent activity offer within priority localities, it should be easier to create new opportunities, develop capacity, enable ownership and better meet needs within communities.
